This piece was part of a special exhibition at Hotel Granduca Houston celebrating the launch of my print shop on my website. Ten of my large first-edition prints were unveiled in custom frames.
Background: Inside Drottingholm Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a statue is illuminated by natural light. Shot on Cinestill 400D, the film’s signature red glow illuminates the most important parts of her body: her outstretched finger, chest, forehead, and the book she carries. Traditionally a raised finger symbolizes divine power and a soul's ascent to heaven. The glow creates a spotlight on themes of divine strength and power (her finger), knowledge (the book), love (the heart), and higher consciousness (the forehead).
